Love the intro of the menu, and just all the particle effects / color when playing different songs. Great job.

Hello Double C!

I just finished playing the game and had a good time. These are my detailed impressions from the moment I started the game for the first time until I stopped playing:

Thoughts when I first fired up the game:

1. Game definitely sets up a pleasant vibe through its opening visuals and the sound. Reminded me of 80's arcade games and TRON which I love!

2. I was next brought to the tutorial sequence and I was able to get the hang of hitting the notes properly after doing the tutorial twice. Not by any fault of the tutorial, but because I'm absolutely new to this genre of game.

3. I started the first available mission on Medium mode and was introduced to a short background of the game world, I could follow the story and it's interesting. I wished to myself maybe that there was some background visuals that help tell the story on the black screen, but that's just a random thought and isn't absolutely needed of course. I do like the story touch of how the player's help is needed by the (spoiler), and not the other way around.

4. The Compile_R track was the first track on display, so i tried it on medium mode. After just a few seconds, I got to the fatality screen. Whoa, this genre of game is a bit challenging for my middle aged reflexes, but I'll give it another shot. Was thinking that my daughter would love this though as I saw her playing a similar game on her phone.

Was thinking that the base/MIDI beat for this particular track was pretty awesome and I want to hear more so I'll try Compile_R a bit later. For now, I'll need something easier.

5. Upon recommendation, I headed over to try The_Bit_Space because its a bit friendlier to people new to the genre.

6. I got to 1760 points on my first try and I was feeling pretty good for getting a bit farther than I did with the previous track! Being new to the genre, I realized that I need to vibe with the music as its the guide for what keys to press to get farther. I tell myself I can do this, that I'm not too old and I can get it. :)

7. I tried The_Bit_Space track again. Lets goooo! Woohoo! I actually finished it at 4865 points! Then I realized that I hit 177 of the 377 beats. Might be bad but I think I'm getting the hang of it!

8. Got into a story conversation after finishing the first level. The story definitely adds a nice layer to the game because it makes me want to continue on and find out what happens to Wave beyond the main game loop.

9. I went to try the "Daemon" track. Got a rating of D with 13365 points witha Beats_Hit rate of 409/564! Here I found that it was more forgiving than "The_Bit_Space" because the lane changes were spread out a bit farther apart and there are a lot of notes that are in the same lane in sequence. I think I'm getting it.

10. Story mini-spoiler: Willy sounds like a bad dude!

11. I went over the UI a bit and its very intuitive. I appreciate the difficulty levels and although I'd never want to try the Expert_+ levels myself, I can see folks that would go for this mode once they've mastered the beats!

This is all the time I have for now to play, but I think that Beat Wave is a great game. Its the first I've tried of the genre, but it immediately got me into it because of the catchy vibe and clean neon aesthetic.

Overall impressions:

- Game is very well made. No bugs encountered at all.

- User interface is intuitive. Even for a first timer to this genre and the game itself, I was able to get it immediately.

- Tutorial was good. It got me through the basic concepts and ready to try my first beat as a complete beginner.

- The story is a nice touch. Nothing too heavy but definitely sets up incentive to follow through playing more until you get hooked!

- Music great! I can clearly hear the level of effort taken to make catchy music like the ones in Beat Wave. Not just in the main notes but the other instruments that go with it. Quite catchy and has this cool relaxing vibe. My favorite is Compile_R. But the dev's attention to musical detail seems to shine through in the Defiant_Machine track the most.

- I really have no suggestions as the game is solid so I'll just throw in to add more tracks so we can get to hear more of your creations.

- I'll definitely recommend this to people I know that play this genre of game!
